Meet Mrs. Stewart

The simple joys of kindergarten are at the heart of why I choose to teach: seeing the pride in your children’s eyes as they develop independence, helping them to learn to work cooperatively and develop friendships; teaching them about the power of the written word or the magic in their imaginations. These are the joys that I hope to share with your child.

.   I have worked in the Comsewogue School District in many capacities since 1988. This will be my sixth year as a kindergarten teacher. I have also taught kindergarten and first grade in Brooklyn before raising my five children.

I graduated from St. Joseph’s College with a degree in child study and received a master’s degree in early childhood education from Brooklyn College. I have completed more than 75 additional credits with a focus on early childhood literacy and computer education.

Over the past several years I have received six educational grants.  Projects have included: A Kindergarten Cookbook, The Kindergarten Post Office, Terryville's Career Day, Superstations, and Teddy's Bears, a kindergarten study of Teddy Roosevelt.
I have also been awarded a grant for the Literary Magazine, as advisor for the 4th & 5th grade Literary Club.  This year I hope to work on another grant project with our class.

I am looking forward to a wonderful year in Kindergarten!
